Bent Vind
– Environmental Science Sales Manager Denmark
Sales depending on the weather - ant's nests, weed controls, insect killers
Why Environmental Science?
Selling products used in private houses and gardens is very exiting work because it greatly depends
on external factors. In other words my work changes with the weather!
The rain causes a risk of fungus in the lawn and makes the grass grow faster. Therefor we
sell the most when it has been a rainy weather all week and we have a sunny weekend.
When the sun finally breaks through in the weekend, people want to have friends over for a
barbecue. And as most of us like to present a nice garden when we have visitors, people buy a lot
of our products at the beginning of the weekend to polish up their gardens.
Also if it has been a warm winter there will be more wasps in the lawn and under the roof and
ants on the terrace. People dread these things that spoil their garden pleasures and our products,
e.g. the ant’s nest, are quite popular aids for fixing this.
Every Day
In my job as Sales Manager for Environmental Science I spend half of my week in the field visiting
customers and the other half in the office documenting and monitoring my sales agreements and
communicating them to our Sales representatives.
The two best things about my job are that I get to meet a lot of people and that I can se
immediate results of my work in terms of the sales agreements that I get.
My team
Working for the Bayer Norden Environmental team you have a lot of freedom and a lot of
responsibilities. You have to create your own results.
Most of us have a commercial training and I guess you would certainly benefit from having
worked in some kind of store when you are selling our products to the major stores and the people
there.
Be successful with us
To be successful in a job like mine you have to be outgoing and also always be able to estimate
what to sell and at what price.
