MaterialScience PUR facts
The Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) PUR (Polyurethanes) business unit is part of the BMS subgroup, that
consists of 5 business units:
- PUR (Polyurethanes)
- PCS (Polycarbonates)
- TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethanes)
- IBC (Industrial Basic Chemicals)
- CAS (Coating Adhesives Sealants)
The subgroup has about 14.900 employees worldwide whereof 4000 works in the BMS PUR business
units.
In the Nordic countries there are 40 people, some of them with only local responsibilities
and some of them with Nordic responsibilities. You can also be responsible for a certain kind of
end product.
BMS Nordic covers Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and the Baltic countries.
Some employees have home offices and some are located in the local Bayer facilities.
MaterialScience PUR in brief
BMS PUR delivers mainly raw materials for subcontractors. Most of the materials are liquids that
are transported in road tankers.
The materials are used for producing foam used in mattresses, office chairs and car chars and
for isolation used in e.g. refrigerators and central heating systems.
An important but not very frequent event is the PUR sales fair every third year.
Another famous product from BMS is the world Championship Football.
